Tudors Dynasty | Memoirs of the Court of Queen Elizabeth – Part Five (Queens Series)

This season I’ll tell you the story written by Lucy Aikin (1781-1864) called Memoirs of the Court of Queen Elizabeth. If you are a fan of Elizabeth I then you’ll appreciate this early 19th century (1818) sentiment.

In this episode, we will jump forward a little in time to the year 1573. By now, Mary, Queen of Scots, had married and buried Lord Darnley, and she had also married Lord Bothwell and abdicated her throne. At this point, Mary had already been Elizabeth’s prisoner for years. They would number 19 in all, but at this point, it was still early on. So let’s look at what the 19th-century observer had to say about Elizabeth’s reaction to the Scottish queen and her favorite’s trouble with Lady Sheffield.
